Earthenwallplates, a venture in handcrafted wall pieces was conceived by the artistic mother n son duo – Sucheta and Dhruv Jaitly. Initially drawing artistic designs on wall plates started out as a hobby for both of them, with the creative process serving as the perfect bonding time when COL Jaitly would be away on duty to far flung non-family stations. These gorgeous hand pieces made perfect Gifts and soon they had friends and relatives asking for more, turning a hobby into a full-fledged business.
Since its inception in 2017, Earthenwallplates has come a long way from its beginnings in a home toolshed. Constantly reinventing the production techniques and quality, they soon had the wherewithal to turn this into a full-fledged business online. Within weeks of setting up the portal they were deluged with enquiries and orders; needing them to expand their production team rapidly. It was Dhruv who encouraged his mother to combine creativity with a more engaging and inclusive community outreach effort, making them scout for talent in slums and the more underserved areas. After a painstaking selection process, they held elaborate art workshops and training programs to hone the skills of the new recruits. Today the business employs nearly a hundred skilled women artists who are now able to support their families with their income. The business initiative has become a vehicle for women empowerment in the true sense and received the prestigious TIMES OF INDIA Group award in the art and craft category.
The team of Erathernwallplates has happy customers from across the world and looks forward to playing a more substantial role in the growing home decor industry in the future.
